A Closer Look at Antarctica

Do you know in the last 50 years, the average temperatures across Antarctica have increased five times more than the average increase on Earth. This has caused ice shelves to break up and the glaciers behind them to speed up their flow – which leads to rising of the sea-level.

Today we are sharing a satellite image of Antarctica to spread awareness about the dangers of rising temperatures. This image is compiled by National Geographic using 4,500 satellite scans. It features additional insets that provide information about surface elevation, ice sheet thickness, the velocity of ice flow, and sea ice movement and wind flow.

You can too put up this poster in classrooms, educational centers or even homes to help spread awareness amongst kids and grown-ups about global warming.
