    The Southcentral region of the United States is bordered to the north by Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. Kentucky can be placed in the northeastern corner of the region. Mississippi lies to the east whereas Tennessee borders the sector from the northeastern and eastern side.

    The Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean can be seen bonding the region from the south and southeast. The sector shares an international boundary with Mexico in the south and southwest whereas the state of New Mexico borders the region to the west.

    Huston in Texas is the largest city in the region. Other major cities include San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Oklahoma City, and New Orleans. Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington is the largest and most populous metropolitan in the sector followed by Greater Huston, San-Antonio-New Braunfels, and Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan areas.

  • Time Zone

    The South Central geographical region of the United States falls under two different time zones namely the Mountain Time Zone and Central Time Zone.

      Mountain Time Zone: Kenton, the only town of Oklahoma along with western Texas falls under the Mountain Time Zone and observes the Mountain Standard Time (MST) which is 7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

      Central Time Zone: Louisiana, Arkansas, most of Oklahoma and the eastern part of Texas falls under Central Time Zone and follows the Central Standard Time (CST) which is 6 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
