The Mississippi River demarcates the west north central states from the east north central part. The Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, borders the region to the north.
The Great Lake states of Michigan and Wisconsin can be placed on the northeastern part. Illinois falls to the east whereas the states of Tennessee and Mississippi bound the region to the southeast. Time Zone
West North Central geographical region of the United States falls under two different time zones namely the Central Time Zone and Mountain Time Zone.
Central Time Zone: The states of Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri fall completely under the Central Time Zone. Most of Nebraska and Kansas along with eastern part of South Dakota and North Dakota also follow the Central Standard Time (CST), this is 6 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.
