Illinois falls to the east whereas the states of Tennessee and Mississippi bound the region to the southeast. Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas can be placed in the south.     West North Central geographical region of the United States falls under two different time zones namely the Central Time Zone and Mountain Time Zone.

      Central Time Zone: The states of Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri fall completely under the Central Time Zone. Most of Nebraska and Kansas along with eastern part of South Dakota and North Dakota also follow the Central Standard Time (CST), this is 6 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

      Mountain Time Zone: The Western part of South Dakota and North Dakota falls under the Mountain Time Zone. 18 Counties of the state Nebraska located in the western panhandle also fall under this time zone.
