Lake Winnipeg is the 11th biggest freshwater lake on the Earth and the 6th largest freshwater lake in Canada, however it is relatively shallow (mean depth of 12m [39ft]) excluding a narrow 36m [118ft] deep channel between the Northern and Southern basin.
