Is the size of Mt Everest shrinking? This is a question that has crossed the mind of millions since Nepal declared its mission to determine the true height of the Everest. They claim the mountain may have shrunk after a powerful earthquake struck Nepal in 2015.
The image you see above was created a half-century after the first climb using millions of measurements. It is the most accurate image yet of the Mt Everest and is used as a reference tool by many. A space shuttle was used to record infrared images and a jet aircraft took stereo photographs that were converted to digital data and merged by computer to create this poster.
